Diabetes

Affecting nearly 400 million people worldwide, the repercussions of Type 2 diabetes, if not effectively treated, can be terrible. From blindness, to loss of limbs, to damage in blood vessels and ultimately major organs such as the heart, kidneys and liver, the consequences of poorly managed diabetes are tragic. Fortunately biological medicine offers a very effective treatment.

Our diabetes patients tend to be aged 55-75 years old. They generally have received only conventional treatment, and so are relegated to a medication-based regimen, usually metformin and various types of DPP-4 inhibitors. Unfortunately patients rarely see an improvement; rather, this approach simply offers management of their current condition.

At Paracelsus our goal is to establish the cause of the diabetes. In discovering the foundation of the problem, we are able to then take steps which may reduce or even eradicate the problem. In thoroughly examining and interviewing each patient, we can figure out, via their life patterns and genetics, what gave rise to their condition. Very often we discover that there are significant metabolic weaknesses and/or blockages in these particular patients that caused the onset of the disease.

So what is responsible for these weaknesses? Frequently, the patients lack trace elements that the body, and more crucially, the pancreas, require in order to produce a sufficient amount of insulin. Inadequate levels of chromium, manganese, amino acids or Vitamin B in the system can contribute to the development of diabetes. We’ve also found that certain types of food allergies, and the disturbance these cause to the intestinal walls, sometimes prevents the body from effectively processing sugar.

Orthodox approaches, beyond medication, subscribe to the philosophy that one needs to cut down on sugar and carbohydrates in order to better control the disease. This is not necessarily the best course of action. You must treat the cause of the metabolic disturbance. In doing so, we are encouraging cells to once again regain that higher metabolic function needed to respond to the body’s hormonal signals and thereby stabilize blood sugar levels. By following a comprehensive nutritional and supplement based course of treatment, ultimately addressing the lack of vitamins and trace elements in the body, we have seen patients improve dramatically. Their pancreatic function and the insulin production therein is elevated. In 80% of our patients, the Type 2 diabetes disappears, and they successfully wean off of the previously prescribed medications.

All of our treatment programs are individualized for the patient. In this way, we know that what we do works as effectively as it possibly can. So while conventional medicine offers a one-size-fits-all mindset when it comes to diabetes care, at Paracelsus we know that this is not the best way to treat patients. Our methods and approach have proven successful time and time again. And the results are extremely positive.
